More consistent mileage, clearer driver time off, and finer control over how the engine plans

This release focuses on the numbers you plan against. Mileage is now calculated once and stored, so the miles you see on a load, on a trip, and in your reporting all agree. Alongside that, trips that overlap a driver's time off are now visible directly in Trip Plan, and Engine Mode gives you more precise control over how recommendations are scored.

Consistent, reliable mileage

Loaded miles, empty miles, and deadhead miles are now calculated through a single shared service and saved with the load and trip, rather than recalculated separately in each place they appear. In practice this means the mileage on a load matches the mileage on its trip, matches what your reporting shows.

Travel duration is now used alongside distance for loaded portions of a trip rather than generic miles/avg. speed calculations, which improves estimated timing on the trip and driver timelines.

Trips over driver time off are visible in Trip Plan

When a trip overlaps a driver's scheduled time off or recurring home time, Trip Plan now shows it, so you can see the conflict while you're planning instead of discovering it later.

Related improvements to time off:

  • Recurring home time entries now display their configured name in the driver's Schedule, not just the location.
  • Time zones are now shown on time-off start, duration, and return-to-work values, so those times read consistently with the rest of your trip timestamps.
  • Ad hoc time off now shows its status and appears in the correct order on the timeline.
  • Completed time off is now visible on assigned and dispatched trips.

More precise Engine Mode configuration

Engine Mode configuration has been reorganized so that how the engine scores a recommendation is easier to see and tune. Settings are grouped by what they affect — trip scoring, driver scoring, costs, relays, replanning, planning windows, tour limits, deadhead, delays, area preferences, and rule relaxation.

Reward and penalty settings use a consistent strength scale (Off, Minimal, Low, Medium, High, Max) with the option to enter a custom value.


Planning view improvements (Dispatch and Balance Module)

  • Dual-panel views can now be expanded, collapsed, and resized, so you can give more room to whichever panel you're working in.
  • The See Alternatives panel now tells you when there are no alternative recommendations, instead of appearing blank.
  • The driver timeline no longer draws misleading gaps when the underlying schedule data is incomplete.
  • Distance values are no longer shown between individual stops in the Load Details route panel.
  • Gantt View now has an on hover pop-up for Trips and Time off pucks.

Import and permissions

  • Additional fields are supported in Trip and Load CSV import.
  • The Commodities page now respects role-based permissions, so what a user can view and change matches their assigned role.

Reliability

We resolved several issues that could cause Trip Plan to fail after you saved a change — for example, after editing handling time on a trip or priority on a load. In some cases the plan reported a failure even though the change had saved correctly, and no recommendations were produced. Trip Plan now completes reliably in these scenarios.

We also fixed an issue where trainee driver assignments were not fully cleared when both the primary and trainee driver were unassigned, and an incorrect warning that flagged a primary driver as a trainee when they were not.

How to use it

Most of these changes take effect automatically — no setup required.

Two are worth a deliberate look after you upgrade:

  1. Engine Mode → New Objectives. You now have new options for how to evaluate the value of a Trip Recommendation. You can experiment with these different settings but it is recommended you review it with your Customer Success contact before relying on new recommendations.
  2. Adjustable Two Panel view on Dispatch and Balance View. You can activate the second panel in the same way on Balance or Dispatch Modules.  Overing your mouse over the middle of the two components also now allows you to adjust the height.

  • Mileage values may differ slightly from what you saw before this release. This reflects the corrected, consistent calculation — not a change to your data. If you see a difference you can't account for, contact Customer Success and we'll walk through it with you.
  • Trip Plan now shows trips that overlap driver time off. Engine-generated recommendations that account for time off are planned for a future release.
